Comment by Matt Rundio on January 26, 2009 at 3:21pm - Regarding resources: the best book, without question, I have read on the subject of "end times" stuff is called Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church written by N.T. Wright.

We have a wealth of additional resources at our finger tips as well. There is a tremendous amount of trustworthy reference material on line that is just as easy to access as Facebook....

- I think that Jason made an excellent point on Sunday, regarding "folk theology." Much of what people say they believe regarding the resurrection of the dead; judgment; the end time; etc....is often not much more than urban mythology or folk theology. Thanks for that, Jason; I think that is an excellent term. What we believe is so often the amalgamation of what we have grown up being taught; what we have read in books (such as the "Left Behind" series, for example...); seen in movies (like "The Excorcist"; "The Omen" series and "Devil's Advocate"); and the Bible. I am very thankful that Jason and Matt tried to steer clear of speculative theology and spoke definitively regarding only those things which are clearly defined in Scripture. Great job, you two....
