How then do we read the Bible? How do we go about “picking and choosing” which parts to live out? Should women be leaders in the church? These questions and more are tackled in the book, The Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible.

Great point regarding worship as giving... Sometimes we do get caught up in what we 'receive' from our times of worship. We can be so self-consumed, can't we? How many times have we heard someone say in regard to times of corporate worship "it just…

Scripture clearly demonstrates that worship is action/verb: the Romans 12.1 passage Ryan referred to defines "your spiritual act of worship" as "offer[ing] your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God." Regarding the compartmentalizat…

It seems that "Worship - that thing you do" is typically thought of as singing, prayer, maybe even participating in communion. Not that I agree with that as it is so restrictive. My definition of worship centers on honoring God with every ounce of…

.: my story

name: Jason Daye

age: 35, hopefully I will remember to update this on my next birthday

birthplace:
wooster, oh | hometown: naples, fl | current home: scottsdale, az

briefly: I have been married to my best friend and beautiful wife, Monica, since May 19, 1995. We have been greatly blessed with six incredible children, aged 5 to 11 years. (Yes, six kids in six years - not only have we been busy but it looks like we will remain busy for quite some time.) I was born in the small college town of Wooster, Ohio, but moved with my family to southwest Florida as a child. I grew up in Naples, Florida, served in ministry in the Nashville area and northwest of Atlanta, and am now ministering in Scottsdale, Arizona. I am lead pastor at Scottsdale Family Church and enjoy the relationships we are developing with some amazing people as together we seek to honor God in our community. I love spending time with my family, enjoy fresh air while exploring the great outdoors and suffer from constant wanderlust. I am regularly tempted by Breyer’s rocky road ice cream, great and not-so-great books, experiencing other cultures, traveling off the beaten path and chatting with friends over soft tacos at Chipotles. I am passionate about my journey as a Christ-follower, my relationship with my wife and kids and being faithful in doing what I can to make a positive difference in this world.

education: Lely High School; Olivet Nazarene University, Trevecca Nazarene University [pre-medical studies, BS in General Science, Biology emphasis]; Asbury Theological Seminary, Trevecca Nazarene University [MA in Practical Theology]

wise words: "Unless there is an element of risk in our exploits for God, there is no need for faith." .: Hudson Taylor, (1832-1905), missionary to China

Overall, I like what Myers says. I feel like he and I use different words to describe the same thing, and that makes me critical of is work for some reason, but I agree with his overall themes.

I hope reading this books provides a lexicon for our team to function and understand what others are saying. You would regularly throw out the word organic, and I had no idea what you meant until reading this book.

I also want to point out that he regularly cites Jim Collins book Good to Great.

Hey Jason. I play in a co-ed outdoor league on Monday nights, and my indoor team is all girls. If you ever want to play just let me know. We play pick up Sunday nights right around the corner from the church and Saturday mornings at Indian School park. Of course let Monica know too. It is all family friendly though, you could bring the kids, there is a park right by the courts. (both places).

Nice quote by Hudson Taylor. I've read some of his work and he challenged me deeply. He walked the walked. An inspiration to us all.
